Lagos Hub Route Map
I built this route finder for a network of 16 community hubs across Lagos. Pick a hub and a destination, and it shows the walking route on the map with the distance and roughly how long it takes on foot.
How it works
Behind it are 277 walking routes worked out in advance along the street network, stored as one GeoJSON file per hub. The app only loads a hub’s routes when someone selects it, which keeps it quick on mobile data. Travel times assume an average walking pace of about 5 km/h. Most routes are short: half are under 800 metres, and the longest is about 5.4 km.
You can limit the list to destinations within 1 km of a hub, centre the map on where you are, open the route in Google Maps, or share a link that opens the same route.
I designed it for phones first, since most people will use it on the move.
Limits
The routes are fixed in advance, so the app doesn’t account for traffic, road closures or flooded streets on the day.
